Excerpt:
Pan Am Flight 103 conspiracy theories suggest a number of possible explanations for the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 on 21 December 1988. Some of the theories preceded the official investigation by Scottish police and the FBI; others arose from different interpretation of evidence presented at Libyan agent Abdelbaset al-Megrahi's 2000/2001 trial; yet others have been developed independently by individuals and organisations outside the official investigation.[1]
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine - General Command (PFLP-GC) was the first suspect, in light of a threat it issued against U.S. and Israeli interests before the bombing. The state of Iran was also in the frame very early, with its motive thought to be revenge for the July 1988 shooting down of Iran Air Flight 655 by USS Vincennes.[2] This theory was later reinforced by Abolghasem Mesbahi, former head of Iranian intelligence operations in Europe, who stated after defecting to Germany that Iran had asked Libya and Abu Nidal, a Palestinian guerrilla leader, to carry out the attack on Pan Am 103.[3] In his 1994 film The Maltese Double Cross, Allan Francovich suggested that rogue CIA agents were implicated in a plot that involved them turning a blind eye to a drug running operation in return for intelligence. Evidence presented at Megrahi's trial, together with concerns about the reliability of his conviction, spawned a theory that Libya was framed. Abu Nidal allegedly confessed to the bombing before his death, thereby triggering another theory, while Joe Vialls put forward his own explanation that relied on the bomb being detonated remotely. Finally, in December 1989, Patrick Haseldine suggested that the bombing was an assassination by South Africa's apartheid government of United Nations Commissioner for Namibia, Bernt Carlsson.

Folks, i'm confused.

I stumbled across an old January 2002 article i have in my bookmarks which makes an in my opinion very good, early case for LIHOP and illustrates the beginning cover-up. It was published on wsws.org and i'm sure there was an english version, but i can't find it anymore - here's the german one (http://www.wsws.org/de/2002/jan2002/warn-j29.shtml). So i've read it again and it contains two paragraphs about the retirement of Thomas J. Prickard (and Neil J. Gallagher) AFTER the FBI turned their attention away from 9/11 to investigate the anthrax attacks in early October 2001. They say that Prickard announced his retirement, aged 50, on October 31, 2001 and retired on November 30, 2001.

Now, i decided to see what googling Prickard turns up, and the first hit was the wikipedia article. It states that Prickard was FBI-Director until September 4, 2001, one week before the attacks.

While i don't agree with everything on wsws.org, i consider them to be professional journalists who get the basic facts right, so i was quite surprised but willing to believe the wikipedia-article - after i've backchecked the FBIs website biography of Pickard (http://www.fbi.gov/libref/directors/pickard.htm), which contains an eerily similar text - tsk tsk, wikipedia, who copied whom...

But then i dugg some more and found not only SourceWatch (http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Thomas_J._Pickard), but also the Washington Post (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/aponline/20011031/aponline204443_000.htm) and even the FBI on another page of their website (http://www.fbi.gov/pressrel/pressrel01/pickard103101.htm) dating the announcement of his retirement October 31, 2001.

So, help me, am i missing something here? When did he retire? And, bonus question, why exactly?

Thomas J. Pickard
Acting Director
June 25, 2001 - September 4, 2001
Mr. Pickard was born in Woodside, Queens, New York. He graduated from St. Francis College, Brooklyn, New York, and subsequently received his Master's Degree from St. John's University, Jamaica, New York. He is a Certified Public Accountant, licensed by the state of New York.
Mr. Pickard began his career as a special agent of the FBI on January 13, 1975, and after a period of training, he was initially assigned to the New York City Field Office. In April 1979, Mr. Pickard was transferred to the Washington, D.C., Field Office, where he worked in an undercover capacity on the case code-named "ABSCAM." In July 1980, Mr. Pickard was promoted to FBI Headquarters, serving in the Inspection and Criminal Investigative Divisions. In October 1984, Mr. Pickard reported to the New York City Field Office as a supervisor in the White-Collar Crime Section and later was appointed assistant special agent in charge for all white-collar crime investigations and violent crime matters in New York.
In 1989, Mr. Pickard was selected for the FBI's Senior Executive Service and was transferred to FBI Headquarters, where he oversaw the FBI's finance operations and subsequently its personnel operations. In 1993, Mr. Pickard was transferred to the New York City FIeld Office once again, to serve as the special agent in charge of the National Security Division, supervising such matters as the trials of the World Trade Center defendants, the trail of the Blind Sheik and his co-conspirators, the Manila Air conviction of Ramzi Youssef and his associates, and the July 1996 TWA Flight 800 explosion.
On September 10, 1996, FBI Director Louis Freeh named Mr. Pickard to the position of assistant director in charge of the Washington Field Office (WFO). During his tenure at WFO, Mr. Pickard supervised such matters as the investigation and arrest of FBI Special Agent Earl Pitts for espionage and the capture of convicted CIA killer Mir Aimal Kasi.
On February 2, 1998, Mr. Pickard assumed the position of assistant director of the FBI's Criminal Investigative Division at FBI Headquarters. On November 1, 1999, Mr. Pickard was appointed deputy director, the number two position at the FBI. On June 25, 2001, Mr Pickard was appointed Acting Director of the FBI by Attorney General John Ashcroft.

Pickard is implicated in the career challenges FBI agent John P. O'Neill faced with the FBI bureaucracy (along with O'Neill's personality) during the late 1990s and pre-9/11 2000s. In the PBS Frontline documentary “The Man Who Knew.” O'Neill's significant other said O'Neill thought Pickard may have leaked information to the New York Times, but Pickard assured O'Neill he did not. The Times story was seen as a signal by O'Neill that he should leave the FBI; O'Neill died months later in the September 11, 2001 attacks.

O’Neill saw through Bush from the start and by the summer of 2001 declared that the main obstacles to investigating Islamic terrorism were U.S. oil corporate interests and the role Saudi Arabia played in furthering those interests. Bush not only thwarted an FBI investigation of the bin Laden family, he kept the specific nature of his family's business ties to the Bin Ladens as secret as Cheney’s energy task force list. A few disturbing facts are known, however. For example, Bin Ladens were investors in the Carlyle Group, the secretive energy-and-arms corporation cofounded by George Bush, Sr.. Carlyle was earlier reputed to have been a major stakeholder in Central Asian oil interests, though they have, not surprisingly, dropped from the foreground in the past year. Bin Laden money was also sunk into George W. Bush's first oil companies. A Bin Laden was involved in BioPort, the company that G.W. Bush granted a federal contract for producing anthrax vaccine, even though the company had failed three FDA inspections. It is hard to imagine, given this cosy history, that O’Neill had much use for the Bush clan. It must have truly enraged him when he learned (as he inevitably must have, given his position inside the intelligence grapevine) that Osama bin Laden had flown to Dubai for 10 days for treatment at the American hospital, where he was visited by local CIA agent Larry Mitchell on July 12.

Only 4% of the vaccine contracted for has been delivered. FDA audits have uncovered suspicious record keeping and contamination problems, causing the FDA to ban delivery of the product. Despite this ban, the U.S. Government has continued to front BioPort millions of dollars to keep the operation going.

It turned out to be a good investment. Market demand has pushed the price of the product high above the contracted for $3.50 an ounce.

The Bin Laden family trust invested in BioPort at the advice of the Carlyle Group as they have in a myriad of projects. The brothers did divest themselves of their ownership stakes after the Wall Street Journal briefly mentioned the close relationship between Carlyle and their family. George H.W. Bush and the others continue to profit from BioPort. Some estimates put the shortage created by the FDA bans as driving the price of the vaccine up to thousands of dollars per ounce. (The same amount of Anthrax treatment Cipro that sells for $20 in India now costs $690 in the U.S).

This explains Bush's sudden interest in scaring everyone to death.

Mandatory experimental vaccinations & related deaths

In 2003, six soldiers filed suit against the government for experimenting on them with the BioPort anthrax vaccine. According to the charges, the vaccine was considered experimental; therefore its mandatory administration was illegal. On Dec. 22, 2003, the US District Court for the District of Columbia ordered the military to stop experimenting on soldiers for dangerous anthrax vaccines. In 2003, army sergeant Rachel Lacey died of complications from the vaccine, according to an autopsy report from the Mayo Clinic. Despite strong evidence that the vaccine was causing pneumonia-like symptoms in military personnel, the Pentagon denied the possibility. Instead, they blamed cigarette smoking as the leading factor. The vaccination is a series of 6 shots over 18 months.
Staff Sgt. Neal B. Erickson Sr. didn't smoke, yet had pneumonia-like symptoms 10 days after his fourth anthrax shot. He required hospitalization 10 days after his next shot; where he tested negative for viruses. The Pentagon referred to the illnesses as a “mysterious pneumonia cluster”. According to Sgt Erickson, there were at least four other cases in his squadron, as well as another hospitalization. There were at least one hundred similar cases as well as multiple deaths; many of which were not investigated.
Thousands of Gulf War I veterans were poisoned by depleted uranium and the same BioPort vaccine under George H.W. Bush and later under Bill Clinton. In October of 2003, 80.3 million tax dollars were spent in ordering VaxGen Inc. to develop an experimental anthrax vaccine. An additional $71.3 million was contracted to Avecia for 3 million doses of a new anthrax vaccine. Within weeks of a court decision to cease mandatory vaccinations, the FDA approved BioPort's vaccine as "“safe and effective”. Judge Emmit Sullivan, who ruled that soldiers should not be used in experimental vaccination programs, issued a subsequent order allowing the Pentagon to resume mandatory vaccinations; a “temporary boost” for BioPort. Just days before his ruling, the Pentagon ordered a $29.7 million order of anthrax vaccine from BioPort, part of a $245.6 million contract, in anticipation of the reversal. [9]

1) Background Intelligence
on the American Red Cross

Founded in 1881 by
American humanitarian Clara Barton, the American Red Cross (officially
named The American National Red Cross) was first chartered by the U.S.
Congress in 1900. A second charter, still in force, was granted in 1905.
Not long after, however, John D. Rockefeller pirated the entire blood
banking industry, along with the administrative leadership of the ARC.
As you will soon learn, this quintessential coup de'tat represented more
than a glorious economic opportunity. The takeover of the ARC, and the
entire blood industry, was apparently required to fulfill a far more sinister,
even occult-linked, political objective-eugenics management for a racially
purified planet.

2) This, he claimed, might best be accomplished
by destroying parental influence, traditions and customs, while reducing
national intelligence levels.
