Vladimir Putin has accused Hillary Clinton, the US secretary of state, of fomenting an increasingly vociferous opposition movement in Russia, threatening to derail the two countries' fragile resetting of relations.
The accusation builds on months of Russian statements and media coverage blaming popular uprisings around the Arab world on western scheming. It comes as Washington and Moscow tussle over a host of disagreements, from missile defence to Syria.
Speaking to supporters on Thursday, Putin accused Clinton of giving "the signal" to opposition leaders, who are expected to gather with tens of thousands of supporters for a protest on Saturday. He rejected Clinton's repeated criticism of a parliamentary vote last weekend that gave Putin's United Russia party nearly 50% of the vote amid widespread reports of fraud.

As Protests Spread, Putin Faces Potential Competition for Presidency
Excerpt:
Georgia president Mikhail Saakashvili.
'Saakashvili was deliberately placed in power in one of the most sophisticated US regime change operations'By F. William Engdahl / August 12, 2008
The controversy over the Georgian surprise military attacks on South Ossetia and Abkhazia on 8.8.08 makes a closer look at the controversial Georgian President and his puppet masters important. An examination shows 41 year old Mikhail Saakashvili to be a ruthless and corrupt totalitarian who is tied to not only the US NATO establishment, but also to the Israeli military and intelligence establishment. The famous 'Rose Revolution of November 2003 that forced the ageing Edouard Shevardnadze from power and swept the then 36 year old US university graduate into power was run and financed by the US State Department, the Soros Foundations, and agencies tied to the Pentagon and US intelligence community.
Mihkail Saakashvili was deliberately placed in power in one of the most sophisticated US regime change operations, using ostensibly private NGOs (Non Governmental Organizations) to create an atmosphere of popular protest against the existing regime of former Soviet Foreign Minister Edouard Shevardnadze, who was no longer useful to Washington when he began to make a deal with Moscow over energy pipelines and privatizations.
Saakashvili was brought to power in a US-engineered coup run on the ground by US-funded NGO's, in an application of a new method of US destabilization of regimes it considered hostile to its foreign policy agenda. The November 24 2003 Wall Street Journal explicitly credited the toppling of Shevardnadze's regime to the operations of "a raft of non-governmental organizations . . . supported by American and other Western foundations." These NGOs, said the Journal, had "spawned a class of young, English-speaking intellectuals hungry for pro-Western reforms" who were instrumental laying the groundwork for a bloodless coup.

Genocide Of Ossetians is No Concern to Heartless Warmonger
Joe Biden during His Last Week Festivities with Georgian Dictator
More than 8000 people in South Ossetia have been recognized as victims of the Georgian aggression that happened last August. During the Georgian war, 655 residential houses were completely destroyed in the small capital of what is now an independent republic. A further 2000 buildings were partly damaged. Tens of thousands of people, including thousands of children, had to be evacuated to Russia under refugee status. This is not even to mention the Russian soldiers who fell and were wounded while protecting the civilian population.
Yes, on the Georgian side, as Tbilisi maintains, 155 civilians were also killed, and people were wounded and went missing. But the Georgian government should first of all ask itself this: would there have been these victims if President Mikhail Saakashvili had not given the order to start the hostilities?
And would Georgians have fled the Ossetian villages after the August conflict if they did not run from Saakashvilis bombs and feel guilty for the wild behavior of their country's officials? Nevertheless, Russophobe US Vice President Joe Biden deceitfully and maliciously blames Russia for everything. A few day ago, during his festivities with the Georgian dictator, he met only with Georgian refugees, including some Georgian children who had to flee to Georgia from South Ossetia. But the Western press and Biden himself refused to disclose that his dear friend Mishas brutal aggression on South Ossetia last August brought this humanitarian crisis not only on the entire population of the Ossetians, but also on a big part of Georgian society. The biased The New York Times (Bias since this powerful US newspaper mostly supports the Georgian dictator and ignores the Ossetian and Russian point of view from the beginning of the hostilities), mentioned Bidens meeting with Georgian children in both its articles during the coverage of Saakashvilis My Dear Joe visit to Georgia. Looks like The New York Time is promoting this propaganda ploy and this makes some to believe that the newspaper itself helped Saakashvili to orchestrate the show with Georgian children from S. Ossetia. This theatrical show was prepared to justify the Vice Presidents twisted, but well publicized anger at Ossetians and Russians, the real victims of his friends awful assault. The New York Times - the Pravda of the West, promptly reported details of this event to the its readers. Meanwhile, Joe Biden entirely ignored the plight of thousands of Ossetian children who have died, were injured, lost their parents or have been dislocated from their historical lands because the actions of Bidens and Bushs long time protégé. The lives of the Ossetians have no value to Mr. Biden, since this nation historically is closer to Russians and view the Georgians as the villains. I think it is understandable why the Ossetians have no love for the Georgians, given that they experienced last august a third genocide in the past 100 years. But why does Biden distastes Russia so much? Because he prefers to deal with the Georgian repressive ruler since he gives him medals and maybe will rename another main avenue in Tbilisi in the Vice Presidents honor ( Saakashvili already renamed one of the most important avenues in the capital to please George W Bush during their special friendship). Or maybe Biden hates Russia for fulfilling its peacekeeping obligation by preventing complete slather and expelling of the Ossetian Nation. Perhaps he is not happy that Russia sold Alaska to America for nothing as a sign of good will. Maybe those medals, free dinners, fun times in Tbilisi are more important to the Vice President than the interests of the American people to have a good relationship with the second most powerful country in the world. Possibly he is not happy that the Russians (actually Soviets - same thing to him) almost solely won horrific WWII and who lost 25 million lives to have victory over Nazi Germany.
After returning last week from a fabulous trip to see his two friends (highly unpopular presidents of Ukraine and Georgia), Biden decided to use the reactionary Wall Street Journal to attack and insult Russia with a clear understanding that he is actually attacking the US Presidents new friendly foreign policy itself.
