Furthermore we demand immediate withdrawal from all occupying forces from Afghanistan, reparations and other compensation for the destruction and corporate pillaging of Afghanistan, so that the Afghan people can rebuild their lives and control their future, and full benefits and quality healthcare and other supports for returning service members.
Sincerely,

Depleted Uranium Missiles Used in Libya?

It is interesting to note that the official excuse for the use of Depleted Uranium missiles is for tank busting. The US claims it “is not aware Depleted Uranium is being used in Libya” yet on the 7th April 2011, NATO attacked rebel forces in a friendly fire incident and their target? Tanks
The BBC reported that a Nato commander excused the incident because “the alliance had not been aware the rebels had tanks.”

Getting less publicity in the corporate media or from human-rights organizations is the U.S. use of depleted uranium weapons in Libya. The Pentagon’s denial of reports of U.S. use of DU weapons has been met with skepticism, especially considering U.S. use of the A-10 Tankbuster aircraft there. Kate Hudson, the general secretary of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, said, “We continue to seek a cast-iron guarantee that depleted uranium has not been used and will not be used in Libya. The U.S. has a long history of only admitting to deploying this radioactive material months or years after it has been used.” (Herald Scotland, April 3)
Experts on the usage of DU weapons have insisted that based upon news video footage of U.S./NATO strikes on Libyan tank columns, one can see that these materials are being used in the war. The U.S. has launched shells, bombs and cruise missiles containing DU in the past. These easily penetrate and burn through heavy armor and fortifications. In addition, water and soil are contaminated with the use of DU weapons.
It has been well-documented that the health and environmental impact of DU weapons are devastating.

While the American scientists and scholars have played a key role in the intellectual evolution of mankind, its wealthy elite and agents - the rulers of the US - have committed the greatest crimes against humanity. These horrific crimes continue unabated with silent intensity. With some exceptions, the “free” US media has maintained complete silence on these crimes. The reason for this silence has to do with the vested interests of media owners - their interests lie in suppressing humanity. Many conscientious and aware Americans do raise their voice against these crimes, but the torment and agony of these American citizens does not seem to have any effect on the pet journalists of media owners. This insensitivity is drowning the United States of America and with it the rest of the world.

Bigger than Blackwater: Arming the UAE
The International Defense Exhibition, otherwise known as IDEX, has been held bi-annually in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) since 1993. It is the largest defense expo in the Middle East and North Africa and one of the biggest in the world. But far from being a one-off, it highlights the UAE’s growing stature as a global arms buyer.

Everybody thought it was a big deal last spring when President Bush announced his "surge" of 20,000 troops in Iraq, which brings the total number to 160,000, four years after the invasion.
Meanwhile, with little public or Congressional scrutiny, the president has been eagerly shelling out billions to maintain an even larger private armed force in Iraq.
According to the journalist Jeremy Scahill -- without whose dogged reports in The Nation and on Democracy Now the story would be virtually unknown -- U.S. taxpayers are now supporting a private-security force of 180,000 in Iraq. That's larger than our formal military presence.
Some in Congress claim that the figure might be as high as 40 cents per dollar spent on the war.
Given that we're burning through $2 billion per week in Iraq, that means that a few secretive private-security firms -- a "coalition of the billing," to quote Scahill -- are shaking us down for some $800 million every week, or a cool $42 billion per year.
The opportunity costs of this boondoggle are monumental. I'm sure we can all think of more productive ways to spend $42 billion than to send a bunch of armed, little-supervised henchmen into a foreign country.

The real 'surge' in Iraq: Rent-a-soldier
In a privatized war, mercenaries outnumber soldiers—and bring home cash for their bosses

According to the journalist Jeremy Scahill -- without whose dogged reports in The Nation and on Democracy Now the story would be virtually unknown -- U.S. taxpayers are now supporting a private-security force of 180,000 in Iraq. That's larger than our formal military presence.
By contrast, in the 1991 Gulf War, "the ratio of troops to private soldiers was about 60 to 1," Scahill writes on Counterpunch.
Scahill reports that neither journalists nor elected officials have been able to ascertain exactly how much Bush is lavishing on this massive rent-a-cop force, which operates with much more impunity in Iraq than the formal army. Some in Congress claim that the figure might be as high as 40 cents per dollar spent on the war.

Here's mine: $42 billion represents about six times the annual budget for our dismal school lunch program.

Another DeVos/Prince family tradition is living off of the largess provided by the government. It's no secret that being a recipient of corporate welfare is good work if you can find it. Quick aside: David Cay Johnston, author of Free Lunch: How the Wealthiest Americans Enrich Themselves at Government Expense (and Stick You with the Bill), recently appeared on Bill Moyer's Journal.
It's well known that Prince makes a lot of his money from no-bid government contracts. What about DeVos and Amway? As the late Molly Ivins reported in 1997, being one of the top contributors to the GOP is not all give and no take: in fact, Amway was able to enjoy a $283 million tax break passed by the then-Republican Congress. More recently, DeVos and his wife received a windfall from the government for land they own. Although they rail against big government, DeVos and Prince like the government big enough for them to enrich billionaires--namely themselves.

Note: While this site does not get involved with politics, per se, it is impossible to discuss the largest MLMs without noting their strong political ties and heavy donations to the Republican Party. More data on Amway/Quixtar's and the Founding Families and kingpin diamonds' donations can be found at http://www.opensecrets.org/.Several bookstores took advantage of the deep discounts in order to make an easy profit. But one store owner, Karen Watkins of Vroman's Bookstore in Pasadena, Calif., said the whole thing smelled, and she blew the whistle on Nevins and DeVos to the New York Times and to the American Booksellers Association.
Michael Kagey, New York Times surveys editor (the department which compiles the best-seller list), stated:
"The extremely improbable sales of Mr. DeVos's book -- at a time when no other stores reported any sales, and coming from small stores that report only a few hundred sales of even a Harry Potter book -- certainly would have excluded the DeVos book from The Times's list."Book marketing is usually time consuming and expensive. However, in 1993, when DeVos released Compasssionate Capitalism, he put together a promotional tour that made enormous amounts of money. At locations throughout the United States, DeVos and his entourage rented stadiums and filled them with Amway members -- each paying $10 a head for the privilege of being there. Cash only, no receipts.
The propaganda value of these bogus sales for the DeVos marketing machine will be fully milked at upcoming Free Enterprise gatherings, and as usual the lambs will be fleeced.
Amway Censorship in Poland
If you have enough money, you can eat sherbet in hell.Old Arabic saying
March, 1998. Amway obtained an injunction to stop a documentary film being shown in Poland. According to an article in the New York Times, June 14, 1998:"A documentary that takes a caustic look at the Polish operations of the American direct-sales company Amway has set off an unusually strenuous debate here about press freedom.More than 50 editors and journalists petitioned President Aleksandr Kwasniewski, according to the article, stating that the ban is reminiscent of the communist regime, and attacking the decision as "preventive censorship."
"The Polish-made film ''Welcome to Life,'' which is dominated by hard-sell pep rallies that are a hallmark of the company and by the motivational jargon of its distributors, was stopped from being shown on television by a court order sought by the company."
And remember, Amway is the company that supports Freedom of Speech! Just ask them -- they'll be happy to tell you!
