Excerpts:
1) The Jackson State killings occurred on Thursday/Friday May 14–15, 1970, at Jackson State College (now Jackson State University) in Jackson, Mississippi. A group of somewhat violent student protesters were confronted by city and state police. The police opened fire, killing two students and injuring twelve.[1] This happened only 10 days after National Guardsmen killed four students in similar protests at Kent State University in Ohio, which first captured national attention.
2) The President's Commission on Campus Unrest investigated this event and also held public hearings at Kent State, in Los Angeles, and Washington. There were no arrests in connection with the deaths at Jackson State, although the Commission did conclude "that the 28-second fusillade from police officers was an unreasonable, unjustified overreaction...A broad barrage of gunfire in response to reported and unconfirmed sniper fire is never warranted."[7

Even vice-president Spiro Agnew, a former prosecutor, and no friend of the protesters, stunned conservatives when he admitted that while not premeditated, the guardsmen's actions constituted "murder". Interestingly, though, no court ever found the guardsmen, or their superiors, legally culpable for their actions. Most civil lawsuits were also dismissed.

Excerpt:
During the early 70s, the university saw a series of protests, some of which turned violent. On May 5, 1970, a protest over the Vietnam War and the Kent State massacre occupied the Student Union Building. The National Guard were ordered to sweep the building and arrest those inside; eleven students and journalists were bayonetted when those outside did not hear the order to disperse given inside.[7] Two years later, on May 10, 1972, a peaceful sit-in protest near Kirtland Air Force Base led to the arrest of thirty-five people and was pushed back to UNM, leading to eight more arrests. The following day, tear gas was used against hundreds of demonstrators on campus and the situation continued to deteriorate, leading to the university to declare a state of emergency.

The FBI announced it would investigate. A week later, Spiro Agnew phoned J. Edgar Hoover, mightily upset because more play had not been given to pictures of blacks looting Augusta. The American people had to be clear, Agnew insisted, that the police did not kill people just because they felt like it. Hoover replied “they were severely provoked at Kent and we will finish Augusta, Atlanta, and Jackson this week.”[670] There is no indication of what he meant by “Atlanta”. “Jackson” was a reference to the capital of Mississippi and/or the large black state college there. On May 13th, some of the students had staged a protest against the draft.

Suspension of Ney awarded contract
On September 28, 2006, House leaders suspended a contract that Ney had awarded to MobileAccess (formerly known as Foxcom Wireless) to install wireless telephone antennaes in House office buildings. They did so on the advice of federal prosecutors who claimed that Ney awarded the contract in exchange for gifts from Abramoff, who was being paid $250,000 by the company for his services as well as $50,000 to the Abramoff-run charity that bankrolled Ney's now infamous Scottish golf outing.Corrupt actions to aid airplane sale to Iran
In January 2006, Newsweek reported that Ney's lawyer confirmed that federal prosecutors have subpoenaed records on an expenses paid February 2003 trip to London that Ney and a top aide took. The trip was paid for by "Nigel Winfield, a thrice-convicted felon who ran a company in Cyprus called FN Aviation. Winfield was seeking to sell U.S.-made airplane spare parts to the Iranian government—a deal that would have needed special permits because of U.S. sanctions against Tehran," and that "Ney personally lobbied the then Secretary of State Colin Powell to relax U.S. sanctions on Iran." Telecommunications firm
On October 18, 2005, The Washington Post reported that Bob Ney, as chair of the House Administration Committee, approved a 2002 license for an Israeli telecommunications company to install antennas for the House. The company, then Foxcom Wireless, an Israeli start-up telecommunications firm, (which has since moved headquarters from Jerusalem to Vienna, Virginia, and been renamed MobileAccess Networks) later paid Abramoff $280,000 for lobbying. It also donated $50,000 to the Capital Athletic Foundation charity that Abramoff sometimes used to secretly pay for some of his lobbying activities.[48] In Michael Scanlon's plea agreement, this activity was described as public corruption.[49]

There are other people from Abramoff’s more distant past who also never knew him, such as former Republican House Speaker (and rumored 2008 presidential candidate [and now confirmed 2012 candidate]) Newt Gingrich, who first never met Abramoff during the latter’s firebrand days atop the College Republicans. “Before his picture appeared on TV and in the newspapers, Newt wouldn’t have known him if he fell across him. He hadn’t seen him in 10 years,” Gingrich’s spokesman, Rick Tyler, tells me. That this especially rankles Abramoff becomes clear as he rummages through a box of old memorabilia with me. “Here’s [former Republican Texas congressman and House majority leader] Dick Armey,” he tells me. “Here’s Newt. Newt. Newt. [Former president Ronald] Reagan. More Newt. Newt with Grover [Norquist, the Washington conservative Republican Über-strategist and longtime Abramoff friend] this time, and with [Seattle arch-conservative Republican] Rabbi [Daniel] Lapin. But Newt never met me. [Indicted Iran-contra figure and longtime Abramoff friend] Ollie North. Newt. Can’t be Newt … he never met me. Oh, Newt! What’s he doing there? Must be a Newt look-alike. I have more pictures of him than I have of my wife. Newt again! It’s sick! I thought he never met me!”

Congressman Bob Ney's guilty plea in a bribery conspiracy scheme last month stemmed in part from his dealings with a Broward ex-convict who did prison time for swindling Elvis Presley, and later worked as a paid mob snitch for the FBI.
Nigel Winfield, 69, of Plantation, is an airplane broker, former fixed-based operator at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and three-time felon.
In February 2003, Winfield played host to the Ohio Republican during a luxurious, three-day casino junket to London paid for by FN Aviation Systems, an aircraft sales and leasing company. Winfield and his partner, a Syrian named Fouad al-Zayat, owned the company.
The trip was arranged after Winfield and al-Zayat were introduced to Ney by two lobbyists, including a former staff aide to President Bush. FN Aviation hired those lobbyists because it wanted to sell airplanes and airplane parts to Iran, and hoped Ney could help get around a U.S. embargo on such sales. Ney agreed to help after accepting thousands of dollars in free gambling chips from al-Zayat, according to court records filed when Ney's guilty plea was announced.

Winfield also drew attention in 1982 when a federal judge in Memphis, Tenn., sentenced him to six months in prison for attempting to defraud singer Elvis Presley. Winfield and three other men were accused of buying Presley`s private luxury jet in 1976, leasing it back to the singer and then billing him $338,000 for repairs and improvements they never made.

Elvis Presley Murdered by Mafia Says Suzanna Leigh
October 17th, 2011
Elvis Presley and Suzanna Leigh in 'Paradise, Hawaiian Style'
By Truthquake.com Staff
Elvis Presley was killed by the Mafia to prevent him from testifying in a big Mob trial, according to actress Suzanna Leigh.
Elvis’s Paradise Hawaiian Style costar Leigh revealed the explosive claim in her blockbuster new autobiography The Flip Side of Paradise the National Enquirer has seen early.
“I learned Elvis had been part of one of the largest FBI investigations of the 1970s, code-named Fountain Pen,” reveals London born Leigh.
“Apparently, he had been the innocent victim in a Mafia fraud case involving millions of dollars.
“Scores of federal agents worldwide had investigated it and Elvis was due to give evidence. The FBI was meant to be protecting Elvis when he died.”
When she first heard about the theory from British journalist John Parker, Leigh contacted Beecher Smith, Presley’s former attorney.
“He told me Elvis and his father Vernon were supposed to appear in front of a federal grand jury on August 16, 1977 – the day Elvis died,” Leigh wrote in her new memoir The Flip Side of Paradise.
The actress, who says she and the singer bonded during filming and “became true soul mates,” also talked to ex-police detective Dick Grob, head of Elvis’s all-cop security team.
“He confirmed Vernon always believed his son was murdered,” Leigh, 66, said. “He claims someone phoned a newspaper from Graceland at 1 a.m. to alert them that a big story was coming out that night – an hour before emergency services were called.”
Leigh says Grob made a bombshell allegation: “‘Elvis died of a massive codeine overdose,’ he told me. I knew Elvis was allergic to codeine, an opiate painkiller.
“Someone washed the carpet where Elvis had fallen – imagine that, cleaning up before the police arrived? Only someone really close to him could have ordered that.”
Leigh, who last acted in the 1970s, eventually became a VIP tour guide at Graceland.
She said Grob is convinced Elvis’s death was “organized by the Mob. He told me they didn’t want Elvis or his father to appear in court.
“They must have gotten someone inside the house. ‘That’s what Vernon believed,’ said Dick. ‘Someone from inside the house let the killer in.’”
Leigh said, “We’re a long way from discovering the truth about Elvis’ death.”

It's a long way from Hollywood to Northolt. Hester Lacey talks to Suzanna Leigh, Sixties starlet, about life after fame
Sunday, 7 February 1999
Suzanna Leigh was the Kate Winslet of her day: a beautiful, feted young British actress who made it big in Hollywood. In her heyday she starred opposite Elvis Presley and Tony Curtis and stepped out with Steve McQueen; her other beaux included Patrick Lichfield, Richard Harris and Michael Caine (for one night only - well, it was the Sixties, after all). She lived a champagne lifestyle, mixed with the beautiful people and drove a Rolls Royce. She was presented to the Queen at a Royal Command Performance. (HRH wanted only to hear about Elvis, she remembers.)

ON THE MORNING OF THE ATTACKS on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, along with a million other readers of the New York Times including many who would never be able to read the paper again, I opened its pages to be confronted by a color photo showing a middle-aged couple holding hands and affecting a defiant look at the camera. The article was headlined in an irony that could not have been more poignant, "No Regrets For A Love Of Explosives." The couple pictured were Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, former leaders of the 1960s’ Weather Underground, America’s first terrorist cult. One of their bombing targets, as it happened, was the Pentagon.
"I don’t regret setting bombs," Ayers was quoted in the opening line of the Times profile; "I feel we didn’t do enough." In 1969, Ayers and his wife convened a "War Council" in Flint Michigan, whose purpose was to launch a military front inside the United States with the purpose of helping Third World revolutionaries conquer and destroy it. Taking charge of the podium, dressed in a high-heeled boots and a leather mini-skirt – her signature uniform – Dorhn incited the assembled radicals to join the war against "Amerikkka" and create chaos and destruction in the "belly of the beast." Her voice rising to a fevered pitch, Dohrn raised three fingers in a "fork salute" to mass murderer Charles Manson whom she proposed as a symbol to her troops. Referring to the helpless victims of the Manson Family as the "Tate Eight" (the most famous was actress Sharon Tate) Dohrn shouted:
