Family life
On June 24, 1967, Simpson married Marguerite L. Whitley. Together they had three children: Arnelle L. Simpson (born December 4, 1968), Jason L. Simpson (born April 21, 1970) and Aaren Lashone Simpson (born September 24, 1977). In August 1979, Aaren drowned in the family's swimming pool a month before her second birthday[20] Simpson and Whitley were also divorced that same year.[21]On February 2, 1985, Simpson married Nicole Brown. They had two children, Sydney Brooke Simpson (born October 17, 1985) and Justin Ryan Simpson (born August 6, 1988), and were divorced in 1992.
Nicole Brown and her friend Ronald Goldman were murdered on June 12, 1994. Simpson was charged with their deaths and subsequently acquitted of all criminal charges in a controversial criminal trial. In the unanimous jury findings of a civil court case in February 1997, Simpson was found liable for the wrongful death of Ronald Goldman and battery of Nicole Brown.

Excerpt:"One of the most amazing things to me when you study the Simpson case is that it appeared intervention failed at every level," says San Diego deputy city attorney Casey Gwinn, who runs that city's domestic violence unit. "Police didn't write reports when they went to the house. Simpson was not put in jail. Friends and family didn't confront him."

Police charged Michael and Carolyn with providing Rebecca an intentional overdose of Clonidine, Depakote, Seroquel, and several other over-the-counter-drugs at the couple’s home on Dec. 13, 2006.
The prescription medicine is used to treat symptoms of attention deficit disorder and bipolar disorder. Rebecca was diagnosed with these conditions at the age of two.
Court affidavits allege that Rebecca suffered “a pattern of abuse and neglect” by her parents before she died from an overdose of Clonidine, Depakote, Seroquel, and several other over-the-counter-drugs.
The Rileys maintained that they administered the drugs under the orders of Dr. Kayoko Kifuji, a Tufts New England Medical Center psychiatrist.
She has not been charged and surrendered her medical license voluntarily while state officials are reviewing the case.
Prosecutors allege the Rileys used excuses to trick Kifuji into authorizing more prescription drug refills for Rebecca

BROCKTON – A Tufts Medical Center child psychiatrist today testified about how she had frequently approved higher dosages of psychotropic drugs for Carolyn Riley’s two preschool daughters, often just after the mother admitted to doing it on her own anyway without asking the doctor.
The mother, Carolyn Riley, is on trial for first-degree murder for the death of her 4-year-old daughter Rebecca of an alleged overdose of psychiatric medications in a case that has drawn attention to the use of psychiatric drugs on children and the nation's disability system.
While being questioned by the prosecutor, Dr. Kayoko Kifuji acknowledged that when she first met Rebecca Riley, at age 2, she had initially diagnosed her with having attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder after only a one-hour meeting. She authorized the mother to give one prescription tablet of clonidine, a sedative, each night.

Weight Gain and Depakote
Okay so I went to see my neurologist yesterday and he told me some not so good things about my medicine. Well lately I've been gaining weight..but I exercise everyday for 20 to sometimes even an hour a day and I lift weights. I did the no carb thing but that was short lived but I still counted calories and all that and I havent lost any weight.
My neuro was like "ah you gained weight" and I'm like yeah thanks for reminding me. He said it's because of the Depakote..I was pissed cuz I forgot about that side effect. And he said I can never go off of the depakote b/c when I was just on lamictal I kept having seizures. So I heard Topamax makes you lose weight instead of gain like on depakote. I was wondering..if you have JME-can you take topamax instead of depakote???

In 2010, we will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act. In 1990, after years of work by former Congressman Tony Coelho, the great patriot Justin Dart Jr., and many, many other great leaders, President George H. W. Bush signed the Americans with Disabilities Act into law, in front of a joyful crowd spread across the south lawn of the White House. What a great day for all people of ability! We all believed we would be free; of course, freedom means we would all have the treasure of employment.
We know that to be free in this country, we must be employed. You cannot buy a car, go on vacation, buy a home, or send your children to college without employment. No employment means no freedom.
Who would ever believe that we are soon facing the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act and we still face a very high unemployment rate. You have often read the rate of unemployment for people with disabilities is over 60%; some argue that it is only 30% or 40%. Wait a minute everyone - why are we arguing with each other about whether the unemployment rate is 60% or 30%? I have news for you - they are both horrible! Do you think we would be happy in America with a 30% unemployment rate for all of us? We would be experiencing a depression.

Education and early career
Coelho was born in rural Los Banos, California, to parents of Portuguese descent,[1][2] attended public schools in nearby Dos Palos, and grew up working on his family’s dairy farm. At age 15, Coelho was injured in a pickup truck accident, which doctors later suggested was the precipitating event for the onset of his epilepsy. For years after the accident, Coelho did not know he had the illness.

He also expressed concern about the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). “Due to court rulings, the ADA has not been too useful for people with disabilities in employment matters. They make it so difficult to qualify for a disability that if you are able to qualify, you probably wouldn’t be able to work. So while other parts of the ADA are good for building codes, Title I is not very useful for people with epilepsy in its current state. We know that Tony Coehlo is out there advocating. We want people to get involved and talk to their Congressional representatives.”

THE 2000 CAMPAIGN: THE CAMPAIGN MANAGER; Gore Campaign Chief Wears Many Other Hats
Since he resigned from Congress in 1989 over a controversial junk bond investment, Tony Coelho has mixed business with politics. But a close look at his business interests suggests that Mr. Coelho, the chairman of the Gore campaign, is much more skillful at politics.
Before taking the reins of the Gore campaign last May and moving to Nashville, Mr. Coelho spent a decade on Wall Street and has been involved with 30 different businesses and charities. He has served on the boards of companies in the car loan, gambling, funeral and thoroughbred racing industries.
While his management of the Gore campaign has earned wide praise, Mr. Coelho's business career has met with frequent failure, with some ventures ending in litigation and attracting government scrutiny.
His latest foray in government, as an ambassador managing the American participation in the 1998 World Exposition in Portugal, is the subject of a criminal investigation into financing and cost overruns.
In the past, Mr. Coelho has often been involved in ventures where the lines between business and government were blurred beyond distinction.
