The Allied Military Government of Zone A of the Free Territory of Trieste was a follow-on from the military government of occupied Italy. It was established upon implementation of the Treaty of Peace with Italy, 15 September 1947, which created the free territory divided into two zones. Zone A was administered by the United States and the United Kingdom. Zone B was administered by Yugoslavia. Military government ended when the free territory was divided between Italy and Yugoslavia, November 1954, under the provisions of a memorandum of understanding among the United States, United Kingdom, Italy and Yugoslavia.

“Clinton has betrayed all his humanitarian promises and failed to collect even a fraction of the promised $10 billion for reconstruction.”

The corporate media portrays former President Bill Clinton as a great humanitarian friend of Haiti. The truth could not be more different. He has always supported policies in the interests of multinational corporations and the Haitian ruling class at the expense of the country’s workers, urban poor and peasantry.

After the 1991 coup that toppled Haitian President Jean Bertrand Aristide, Clinton as President did maintain relatively ineffective sanctions. But he violated his campaign promise and continued George Bush Sr.’s policy of jailing Haitian refugees in Guantanamo. He also pressured Aristide to adopt free market economic policies as the condition of restoring him to power in 1994.

Clinton succeeded in getting Aristide to moderate his program of social reform and drop tariffs on rice to the advantage of U.S. Agribusiness. He then compelled Aristide’s successor, Rene Preval, to further deregulate the economy successfully turning Haiti into the most free market economy in the Western Hemisphere, and consequently its poorest.

It seemed implausible to think that Iranian arms dealers were doing business right here in McMinnville, trading in high-powered sniper rifles, semi-automatic hand guns, ammunition and other equipment. How was that even possible, especially in post 9/11 times? It’s a stark reminder that even here, in small-town America, we need to remain vigilant to the dangers in our ever-shrinking world.

Local law enforcement knew nothing about the business or the illegal activities until last week, when they learned that federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents had arrested Iranian national, Hamid Malekpour, for interstate possession and transportation of firearms and ammunition from McMinnville to Washington state.

Police Chief Ron Noble and Yamhill County Sheriff Jack Crabtree expressed dismay that their departments hadn’t been notified of the investigation by the FBI or ICE, and are looking into the lack of communication from the agencies.

Here’s how the federal arrest went down:

Suspicious of his passport and of the reason Malekpour gave customs agents when he initially applied to cross the Canadian border near Blaine, Wash., ICE agents tailed him to McMinnville. Here, they witnessed him loading boxes into his car from an office complex on North Highway 99W. Malekpour, also known as Oliver King, then headed back north, not stopping until he reached a warehouse in Ferndale, Wash., about 10 miles south of the border.

Agents stopped him there and found weapons when they searched his car. A subsequent search was conducted in the warehouse, where more high-powered weaponry was stashed. The felonies are being prosecuted in U.S. District Court in Seattle.

The local gun shop, McMinnville Hunting & Police Supplies Inc., is owned by Amir Zarandi, but Malekpour is also listed on the office lease. No one seems to know where Zarandi is from, only that he makes infrequent visits to the location. Because McMinnville does not license its businesses, the city doesn’t have any information about him. The state’s business registry isn’t helpful, either.

But Malekpour’s passport indicates that he visited Iran in 2009 and again earlier this year. One of the weapons confiscated from him last week was a .50-caliber sniper rifle, which has the capability of shooting aircraft out of the sky.

No matter how you look at it, national security might have been in jeopardy right here in River City.

That’s a scary thought.

Melson also told investigators that Fast and Furious was operating under the direction of Arizona U.S. Attorney Dennis Burke, and that his agents had witnessed illegal gun sales and were instructed to not follow them further, an allegation which had also been made by several Phoenix agents who were upset about the lack of continued surveillance of the weapons.

B.C. man sentenced to prison for firearms trafficking

An Iranian-born Canadian citizen caught last year in Whatcom County with a huge stash of military-style firearms and ammunition was sentenced Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Seattle to 70 months in prison.
After a five-day trial in January, Oliver King was convicted of unlawful dealing in firearms, being a non-immigrant alien in possession of firearms and three counts of making false statements to a government agency. As a non-immigrant alien, King was prohibited from possessing firearms, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
King, aka Hamid Malekpour, of Vancouver, B.C., was arrested May 19 outside a storage facility in Ferndale, with a car containing two shotguns, two handguns and 480 rounds of .50-caliber rifle ammunition, according to charging documents. A search warrant obtained for the shed turned up 27 military-style firearms, including a .50-caliber sniper rifle and numerous semi-automatic assault-style weapons, handguns, ammunition and magazines, according to charging documents.

ATF higher-ups instantly suspected that Fast and Furious acquired weapons had been used by the gang of Mexican illegals involved in Terry’s murder.
And sure enough, hastily run NTC (National Tracing Center) serial number traces performed on two rifles found at the scene showed they had been purchased by Jaime Avila–a straw purchaser and DOJ-known participant in Fast and Furious–on January 16th of 2010.

   When Canadian Oliver King was sentenced yesterday in a Seattle federal courtroom to six years in federal prison for illegal firearms possession, unlawful dealing in firearms and associated offenses, reports about the case contained some unintended revelations.

   The Vancouver Sun quoted a document from U.S. prosecutors that stated:

"Firearms are dangerous and those that Mr. King was convicted of possessing are particularly lethal. The possession, purchase and sale of firearms are highly regulated for this reason…”

   This tends to put the lie to claims by gun prohibitionists that the firearms industry is “unregulated.”

   The investigation followed King, an Iranian-born Canadian citizen also known as Hamid Malekpour, without allowing him to transport any of the firearms he obtained across the border, unlike Operation Fast and Furious in the Southwest. He actually had guns stored in Ferndale. Thousands of firearms are suspected to have been illegally transported into Mexico by that adjunct of Project Gunrunner, the now-infamous gun trafficking sting operation initiated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives back in the Bush administration, but ramped up considerably under Barack Obama and Eric Holder in 2009.

   Both the Seattle Times and on-line Seattle P-I.com have covered this story, while virtually ignoring the much larger controversy of the Gunrunner case, even though its alleged mismanagement now is appearing to track all the way to the upper echelons of the Justice Department. Both Congressman Darrell Issa, chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and Sen. Charles Grassley, ranking Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, have complained about stonewalling by ATF and the Justice Department on their Gunrunner inquiries.

   When King was arrested with a small collection of firearms at a Ferndale storage facility (21 guns and about 1,500 rounds of ammunition), but authorities describe it as a "cache" of weapons. Several gun owners have noted that they have more firearms and ammunition in their homes, and they do not consider that a “cache” by any stretch. They contend this reveals how federal authorities, and the press, might view extensive collections of different, and perhaps exotic firearms that are perfectly legal to own, including .50-caliber long range competition rifles.

   King has been revealed as something of a teller of flamboyant tales about his past. According to published reports, he failed at trying to operate a gun store in Canada, and he did not disclose to U.S. authorities that he was involved in a commercial firearms retail business based in Oregon. He had three Iranian visas and a couple of passports. Whatever he was up to, King has had to put it all on hold.

The U.S. Army, Air Force and Navy were directly involved in the killing of about three million Koran civilians—both South Koreans and North Koreans—at many locations throughout Korea, including Masan, Sachon, Tanyang, Iksan, Changyong, Wegwan, Ducksung, Sinchun, Wonsan, Pyongyang, etc. Several hundreds of civilians refugees were blown apart when the U.S. Army blew up Wegwan and Ducksung bridges in S. One report indicates that the 7^th Regiment of the 1^st Cav. Among the several branches of the U.S. military, the U.S. Air Force was probably more responsible than any other branches for the huge number of civilian killings because of its indiscriminate shootings and bombings of civilian refugees, villages, towns, and cities in violation of Hague Conventions.
