Tillman Story and Benefit to Raise Awareness of Military and Government Cover-Up

Here are some pictures from the evening.  We met up with some allies in Kansas City to participate in the viewing of Tillman Story playing in the local indy cinema and talk about the Pat Tillman Foundation providing educational benefits to veterans.  We were able to engage the audience about what we were doing and how Ride Till the End is riding till the occupations in Iraq and Afghanistan end.  The audience was receptive to the message and were invited to join us in celebration of Tillman's life with cake, drinks, and stories from vets in their area.  After the film we ate cake at a bar in the shopping center where we engaged people at the bar and talked to them about our experience and what happened to Pat.  Several people in the bar had heard the story but did not know all the details and in fact some were from Arizona and were aware of the national interest in his death and how it changed a community.  We talked to a gentleman who was actively involved in supporting his town with voluntary service but thought that the Navy could be his ticket to pursue those interests.  We discussed the important work that he was doing right here, right now, and how that was compatible with all the reasons that he was instead deciding to join the service to pursue. It is incredible how little we realize the work we do right here at home can have a profound impact in a very national way.  There is certainly plenty of work that we all can be doing in our own backyards.  I believe this discussion altered the way that he was looking at his role and his understanding of what it means to serve.  We continue to focus on our local community in getting them thinking about a change of mindset and how it relates to their support for the occupations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
