Although Murdoch's life is fascinating in itself and well worthy of an essay, I would like to focus mainly upon the ethics behind media manipulation and ownership of a large quantity of communication industries, as well as focusing on Fox News. Whilst Fox News has been criticised by numerous commentators, and this essay will of course be no exception, my aim is also to present a ‘fair and balanced’ view upon Murdoch's empire and Fox News itself. I will therefore examine the positives and negatives of Murdoch's legacy and his vast media ownership.
While al-Assad permitted radio stations to play Western pop music, websites such as Amazon.com, Facebook, Wikipedia and YouTube were blocked until 1 January 2011, when all citizens were permitted to sign up for high speed internet, and those sites were allowed.[75] However, a 2007 law requires Internet cafes to record all comments that users post on online chat forums.[76]

Analysis: New media in Syria remains in thrall to the regime
By Shahine Mroue
The apple of Syria’s private news media has not fallen very far from the state-controlled tree. A tangle of propaganda has always prevented professional media from serving the public, as well as the journalists themselves.
The best examples of this among of the excess of websites that have sprung up in the last 10 or so years since the internet was allowed in Syria are sites like Cham Press, Watan-online, Syria News, DP-news and others.
These websites even go as far as calling themselves independent.
But the truth is that most of the electronic news media in Syria is owned, directly or indirectly, by powerful officials or influential businessmen – although it’s quite hard to differentiate between the two in Syria. As sponsors, they interfere directly in the editorial policy of websites, which tend to adhere to the state-controlled line.

Who has been organizing those pro-war rallies? The answer, it turns out, is that they are being promoted by key players in the radio industry - with close links to the Bush administration. the CD-smashing rally was organized by KRMD, part of Cumulus Media, a radio chain that has banned the Dixie Chicks from its playlists. Most of the pro-war demonstrations around the United States have, however, been organized by stations owned by Clear Channel Communications, a behemoth based in Texas that controls more than 1,200 stations and increasingly dominates the airwaves. the company says the demonstrations, which go under the name Rally for America, reflect the initiative of individual stations. But this is unlikely: According to Eric Boehlert, who has written revelatory articles about Clear Channel in the online magazine Salon, the company is notorious - and widely hated - for its iron-fisted centralized control.
Until now, complaints about Clear Channel have focused on its business practices. Critics say it uses its power to squeeze recording companies and artists and contributes to the growing blandness of broadcast music. But now the company appears to be using its clout to help one side in a political dispute that deeply divides the United States. Why would a media company insert itself into politics this way? It could simply be a matter of personal conviction on the part of management. But there are also good reasons for Clear Channel - which became a giant only in the last few years, after the Telecommunications Act of 1996 removed many restrictions on media ownership - to curry favor with the governing party.

Attacks against Hillary Clinton youtube
Excerpt:
Steve Watson | May 10 2006
Rupert Murdoch, the conservative media mogul whose New York Post tabloid savaged Hillary Clinton's initial aspirations to become a US senator for New York, has agreed to host a political fundraiser for her re-election campaign, reports the Financial Times.
Such elite back slapping and shoulder rubbing again highlights that when it comes to getting ahead it pays to be on the same page.
The notion that leading Democrats and Republicans are in opposition is ludicrous. The belief that a true left / right paradigm still exists in global politics is as antiquated as a grandfather clock in a coffin.
The Anglo-American aristocracy, big businesses and banks have long been pulling the strings behind the curtain in the theatre of politics and underlings such as the Clintons and the Bushes know what they have to do to satisfy their desire for political control.
Recently Hillary has also been spotted partying at Fox News, with Murdoch and his cronies, and buddying up with the very same Republicans who vociferously tried to get her husband impeached for having sex with another woman.
Whilst her husband has been hanging around with the Bushes, Hillary has also been living it up with the likes of Newt Gingrich, Bill Frist, John McCain and Rick Santorum. There is clearly a bipartisan move underway to shift public perception.

Breaking the Law
In their "Ten Worst Corporations of 2003" list, Robert Weissman and Russell Mokhiber report that Clear Channel has "compiled a record of 'repeated law-breaking' ... violating the law -- including prohibitions on deceptive advertising and on broadcasting conversations without obtaining permission of the second party to the conversation -- on 36 separate occasions over the previous three years."[6]

For her part, Clinton hasn't been to Hayman Island yet, but she did lunch with Murdoch--a man who did as much as anyone to drive the sex scandal that almost undid her husband--at his company's Midtown tower, according to one person who was at the meeting. "Senator Clinton respects [Murdoch] and thinks he is smart and effective," Reines said last summer. Personal diplomacy, however, is the true calling of the senator's husband, who has done everything from touring the Post's newsroom to recording a birthday tribute to Fox News chief Roger Ailes. He also recruited Murdoch as one of the small handful of business executives participating in his "Global Initiative," a sui generis foreign policy conference in New York in September. Seated in a set of low white armchairs, the former president interviewed Murdoch, along with Sony's Sir Howard Stringer and Time Warner's Richard Parsons, about the future of global media. After the panel ended (late, of course), Clinton and Murdoch chatted in a corner, one's hand on the other's arm, while admirers, including a largely ignored Brad Pitt, tried to get close to the two men.

Haaretz quoted senior Zionist “defense” officials as saying: “Israel has a major stake in improving relations with Turkey in light of Turkey's standing in the region, its past economic relationship with Israel and the opportunity to renew defense-related export to Turkey”.
These views didn’t represent the Israeli “Defense” Ministry’s official stance. However, “Defense” Minister stressed that the Zionist entity had an interest in ending the crisis with Turkey.
“From a strategic point of view, we have an interest in smoothing things over with Turkey," Barak said last week on the Israeli television, Channel 1.
"National pride is important [but] in the end, we have to understand that we have other interests here ... Turkey can have an important role in issues relating to Syria, Iran, Lebanon and Hamas."
