Newspaper Removes Hillary Clinton from Iconic Photo

The image has become iconic in just a week. Released by the White House on Monday, the shot of Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton and others getting an update on the mission against Osama bin Laden seems destined for the history books.
But if you only saw the image in the Brooklyn-based Hasidic newspaper Der Zeitung (The Time), then, well, you missed out on seeing the full image. Der Zeitung Photoshopped Hillary Clinton out of the picture.
The story was first reported by the blog Failed Messiah, which covers Orthodox Judiasm. Audrey Tomason, the Director for Counterterrorism, was also removed from the photo. The Jerusalem Post reported that Der Zeitung did not respond to a request for why it removed Clinton and Tomason from the photo. Many have speculated the paper does not believe women should be in positions of power.
In a column for The Jewish Week, Rabbi Jason Miller reports the paper will not include any images of women because they could be viewed as sexually suggestive. He also says he believes the photo manipulation "is actually a violation of the Jewish legal principle of g'neivat da'at (deceit)."
Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, a New York City radio host, told the New York Post that he doesn't know why the paper removed her, but that "there is nothing in Judaism that prevents the publication of images of women in power."

I'm always offended when people say the Holocaust never happened, I think the people of the Jeruselum Post should realize, while nowhere near the same level of offensiveness, is still attempting to rewrite history in a slanted self serving perspective. That is totally offensive and hypocritical!

An official apology should go out immediately by who or whom ever made this decision, and did you really think it would go unnoticed? Somebody there should not just be repremanded, but fired.

It is a sad commentary that in today's world we continue to find examples of the subjugation of women. There is no place in America for this kind of behavior. If the people responsible for this publication feel so strongly about women's role in society, then perhaps they should practice their faith elsewhere.
