Zombie Apocalypse? The CDC Describes How To Be Prepared
The Huffington Post Meghan Neal First Posted: 05/18/11 06:24 PM ET Updated: 05/19/11 02:17 PM The U.S. government wants to make sure that in the event of a zombie invasion, you know what to do.
That's right. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shocked us all with their post on how to prepare for the zombie apocalypse.
The CDC post, "Preparedness 101: Zombie Apocalypse," came out Monday and has been gaining media traction since -- the link was down for much of the day yesterday, presumingly due to over-traffic.
From the CDC:
Here's @CDCEmergency's tweet about it: http://twitter.com/#!/CDCemergency/statuses/70854688689500160
Unfortunately, with the link still down, the CDC's awareness campaign may have been so effective it's rendered itself ineffective!

From the CDC:
Plan your evacuation route. When zombies are hungry they won’t stop until they get food (i.e., brains), which means you need to get out of town fast! Plan where you would go and multiple routes you would take ahead of time so that the flesh eaters don’t have a chance! This is also helpful when natural disasters strike and you have to take shelter fast.A CDC spokesperson told The Wall Street Journal the idea came about when a communications staffer noticed that mentioning the word 'zombie' in a Twitter session caused traffic to spike. The purpose of the post is to get people engaged, and then convey important facts about emergency preparedness.
