Early life and family
Morrow was born in the Bronx, (New York) to a middle class Jewish family,[1] the son of Jean (née Kress) and Harry Morrow, an electrical engineer.[2] When he was 17, Morrow dropped out of high school and joined the U.S. Navy. He married actress Barbara Turner with whom he had two daughters: actress Jennifer Jason Leigh and Carrie Ann Morrow. Morrow's marriage to Barbara lasted seven years and ended in divorce in 1964. He did not remarry until 1975, over a decade later, when he courted Gale Lester (currently Gale Morrow Butler). They were married for five years and were separated just prior to Morrow's death.
Morrow had a falling out with his daughter Jennifer Jason Leigh following his divorce from her mother; Leigh changed her last name as a teenager to avoid being publicly associated with Morrow. They remained estranged at the time of his death.

[edit] Life and career

Turner was born in New York. She was married to actor Vic Morrow – with whom she had two daughters, actress Jennifer Jason Leigh and Carrie Ann Morrow – from 1957 to 1964, and to Iranian television director Reza Badiyi – with whom she had another daughter, actress Mina Badie, from 1968 to 1985. Both Vic Morrow and Reza Badiyi were close friends of the director Robert Altman, who later directed Leigh in two movies, Short Cuts (1993) and Kansas City (1996). Turner performed a cameo role in the family drama-comedy Margot at the Wedding, with daughter Jennifer, released in the fall of 2007.

Career
After Syracuse University Badiyi often worked with Robert Altman. Badiyi was assistant director on the low-budget 1957 film "The Delinquents," which marked Altman's feature film debut as a director.
Early in his career, he directed episodes of Get Smart, Mission: Impossible, Hawaii Five-O, The Incredible Hulk, Mannix, The Six Million Dollar Man, Starsky and Hutch, The Rockford Files and Police Squad!. He also directed the definitive "fashion show" sequence of the third season of the popular "Doris Day Show". There were lowlights, as well, including directing the unsold pilot for "Inside O.U.T.", starring Farrah Fawcett and a chimp for Colombia/Screen Gems in 1971.
In the 1980s and 1990s, he directed episodes of Falcon Crest, Cagney and Lacey, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the episode "Out of Mind, Out of Sight"), Le Femme Nikita, Sliders and Baywatch.

Q: What did you think of the two stars of Combat!, Vic Morrow and Rick Jason. I remember you saying Vic Morrow killed you in almost every episode.
On Combat!, the cast was excellent except for Vic Morrow. I think, because of Blackboard Jungle, he had a Brandoesque quality about him.
