Hollywood star John Travolta is used to his many blockbusters going down in film history.
So the Grease star must be surprised that his much-publicised in-flight safety video for Qantas Airlines has been pulled, just five months after it first hit seat screens.
The plane nut – who owns a vintage Qantas Boeing 707-138B jet – appeared in the somewhat cheesy video clip to reassure passengers that ‘there is no one I’d rather have at the controls than a Qantas pilot’.

Dropped: John Travolta's in-flight safety clip has been replaced after five months
His star turn was said to be an effort by Qantas to ensure passengers take notice of the safety briefings on flights and the airline claims the video was only meant to be a ‘temporary feature’.
But the Australian and International Pilots Association claims the Hollywood hero was dumped for more sinister reasons.
The union is currently embroiled in a row with Qantas Airlines over its alleged plan to employ cheaper pilots from overseas and pay them less in a bid to keep costs down.
The AIPA has hijacked Travolta’s motto about having a Qantas pilot at the controls and is now using it in a campaign against the alleged outsourcing plans.
The union claims that, as a result, the airline has now seemed Travolta’s declaration as inappropriate.

‘In simpler times, this would be an uncontroversial remark, but with CEO Alan Joyce now eager to outsource Qantas pilot jobs overseas, well, suddenly Travolta is out of step,’ said AIPA vice-president Richard Woodward.
However, Qantas Group Executive Olivia Wirth said: ‘Qantas is not replacing the safety video featuring John Travolta because of the pilots' union in-flight public announcements or their industrial action.’
And a spokesman for the airline added: ‘Contrary to claims, all Qantas flights are operated by Qantas pilots. The union wants pilots for other Qantas Group airlines to be paid the same rates as Qantas pilots and we cannot agree to this.’
Travolta’s appearance in the Qantas safety video caused a stir when it was first released, with critics claiming it was ‘tacky’ and saying it would have been better to use a real Qantas pilot.
In the video Travolta appears wearing a pilot’s uniform and hat and says: ‘This is your captain speaking. Well, maybe not today. But I can guarantee that the guys in the flight deck and the greater team care just as much about aircraft safety as I do.’
