0 One of students’ favorite snack dips just got political.
Last week, protesters from Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions, a Philadelphia-based group which supports boycotts of the Israeli state, staged a flash mob lat the Fresh Grocer at 40th and Walnut streets. The original protest aimed to discourage purchases of the Tribe and Sabra brands of hummus.
But now, some students are voicing their support for Israel — and the hummus brands.
While singing and dancing to the tune of Lady Gaga’s “Telephone,” BDS alleged that the companies “support illegal occupation and human rights abuse created by the government of Israel.”
While Tribe and Sabra are American-owned companies, BDS’ video of the flash mob said Sabra’s co-owner Strauss Group “supports the Israeli army’s Golani Brigade.” It also said Tribe is owned by Osem Group, “a strong supporter of the Jewish National Fund.”

Novartis Consumer Health Inc. and its Israeli subsidiary have recalled two batches of the pain-relieving, fever-reducing, over-the-counter drug Excedrin because the containers were found to have erroneously contained other drugs mixed in. The batches are only those marked 10120279 and 10120280, with an expiry date of July 2014. The Health Ministry, which was informed, approved the action.
The US Food and Drug Administration examined the evidence and asked the company abroad to recall the batches wherever in the world they have been found. But it stated that there have been no reported complications in any patients. Excedrin in the indicated batches are marketed in bottles and may contain stray tablets, capsules, caplets or broken tablets, which may originate from other products.

What is Eltroxin (Levothyroxine)?
Levothyroxine is a replacement for a hormone that is normally produced by your thyroid gland to regulate the body's energy and metabolism. Levothyroxine is given when the thyroid does not produce enough of this hormone on its own.
Levothyroxine treats hypothyroidism (low thyroid hormone). Levothyroxine is also used to treat or prevent goiter (enlarged thyroid gland), which can be caused by hormone imbalances, radiation treatment, surgery, or cancer.
Levothyroxine should not be used to treat obesity or weight problems.
Levothyroxine may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Excerpt:
What other drugs affect Eltroxin (Levothyroxine)?
The following drugs may cause medical problems if you use them with levothyroxine: lithium, amiodarone, or antidepressants. Tell your doctor if you have recently received radiation therapy with iodine (such as I-131).
This list is not complete and there are many other drugs that can interact with levothyroxine. Tell your doctor about all medications you use. This includes prescription, over-the-counter, vitamin, and herbal products. Do not start a new medication without telling your doctor.
Certain medicines can be continued, but they may make levothyroxine less effective if taken at the same time. If you use any of the following drugs, use them at least 4 hours before or 4 hours after you take levothyroxine:
calcium carbonate (Caltrate, Citracal, Oystercal, and others)
ferrous sulfate iron supplementsucralfate (Carafate)
sodium polystyrene sulfonate (Kayexalate, Kionex, and others)antacids that contain aluminum (Amphojel, Gaviscon, Maalox, Mylanta, Riopan, Rulox, Tums, and others); and
cholesterol-lowering drugs cholestyramine (Questran) and colestipol (Colestid)
Back to Top What should I avoid while taking Eltroxin (Levothyroxine)?
Do not change brands or change to a generic levothyroxine drug product without first asking your doctor. Different brands of levothyroxine may not work the same. If you get a prescription refill and your new pills look different, talk with your pharmacist or doctor.Avoid the following food products, which can make your body absorb less levothyroxine: infant soy formula, cotton seed meal, walnuts, and high-fiber foods.

Home Depot sold its HD Supply wholesale distribution unit to a trio of private equity firms - Bain Capital, Clayton Dubilier & Rice, and Carlyle Group - in August 2007. The terms were as follows: Purchase price of $8.5 billion, The Home Depot to own a 12.5% equity interest for $325 million, and The Home Depot guaranteed a $1 billion senior secured loan. The acquisition included a portfolio of 11 businesses and HD Supply Canada, and total annual revenues of $12 billion. That deal started with a purchase price $2 billion higher, but was renegotiated due to tightening credit conditions.
