History
Godfather's was founded in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1973.[2] In the early 1970s, William Theisen owned a beer parlor named Wild Willie's, next to a pizza restaurant named Godfather at 84th and L Street in western Omaha.[3] Theisen bought out the pizza parlor and the name in 1974 and sold his first franchise.[4] Theisen sold the company to Pillsbury in the mid-1980s and stepped down from actively managing the company. In 1986, Pillsbury named Herman Cain CEO and President of the brand. Cain and Ronald B. Gartlan, the pizza's executive vice president, led a group to purchase the Godfather's brand from Pillsbury, which they did by the beginning of 1990 in a deal reported to be $100 million. It was reported to be the fifth largest pizza chain in the United States at the time.[5] Cain stepped down from his position as CEO and President in 2002 and Gartlan became CEO. In 2009 Gartlan Bought out Cain.[6] According to the company's official website, as of June 14, 2011, the chain has 622 locations in 39 U.S. states.[7]

Remember, Cain is the same guy who served as chairman of the Omaha branch of the Kansas City Federal Reserve. Omaha, of course, is where the notorious Franklin Cover-Up took place and where rising black Republican star Lawrence King was based before his downfall in the wake of the Franklin Federal Credit Union scandal of 1988 and ’89.

Meanwhile, Cain is focused on rebuilding the ailing Godfather’s Pizza, based in Omaha, and promoting “Pizzaology,” he and a group of investors actually purchased the franchise from Pillsbury. As he notes in his bio This is Herman Cain! he writes that in September 1988, “we closed on a leveraged buyout and we are now the heavily in debt owners of Godfather’s Pizza, Inc,” with help from CitiBank. Were there any other lending institutions or investors from Omaha involved in that process? We are not sure. The New York Times, at the time, interviewed Cain about the Godfather’s purchase. Cain told the Times that “he and his management team were investing much of their own net worth in Godfather’s.” At its peak, Godfather’s had 911 restaurants, interestingly enough. Perhaps Mr. Cain will release all that information since it is not detailed in his book and questions are being asked about this time of his career.

Mike McQueary, the Penn State assistant football coach under fire for his reported lack of action in an alleged 2002 rape of a boy by Jerry Sandusky, said in an email to a former classmate that he stopped the assault in an athletic facility shower and discussed it with police.

In the email obtained by The Morning Call, McQueary wrote that he "did have discussions with police and with the official at the university in charge of police" following the alleged incident involving Sandusky, a former Penn State assistant coach, and a boy. McQueary also wrote that he "is getting hammered for handling this the right way or what I thought at the time was right."

"I had to make tough impacting quick decisions," McQueary wrote.

Long used as a tactic by organized crime to control political figures, Sandusky’s compromising lifestyle has many asking the degree to which Penn State’s program was corrupted by organized crime and whether the Second Mile Foundation was in any way linked to the Franklin Cover-Up which involved key political figures during the same time period at Omaha Nebraska’s Boys Town.
Jerry Sandusky saw his Second Mile Foundation as an opportunity, but what kind of opportunity? News that famed Penn State defensive coordinator, Jerry Sandusky, abused his position and had a long undisclosed fetish for young boys has brought a wave of shame, remorse and resignations from key Penn State officials who should have known better.
